With digital technologies advancing rapidly, Singapore’s response is to continually enhance its capabilities to ensure that it is not left behind, said Minister for Communications and Information Josephine Teo. In a SGTech Tech Talks with SGTech Chair Wong Wai Meng, she said the Government has set aside about S$25 billion on R&D, part of which is being invested in Smart Nation projects. The Government is keeping close watch on new technologies like the metaverse that will probably be realised in the longer term. She also touched on support for new technologies like 6G and Open RAN (Radio Access Network), technopreneurship and talent development.   In a wide-ranging video interview, Minister Teo said the Government will support SGTech’s efforts to develop the tech industry.
